Everyone is invited to join us on Saturday, April 25, 2026 for the Ghidorzi Green and Clean, Wausau’s annual cleanup to free our beautiful landscape of litter and debris. The event, which has removed 44.14 TONS of trash to date, is a productive way for individuals and groups of all ages to celebrate Earth Day and engage in a healthy outdoor activity in support of our community.

How the event works:

This event is free of charge and the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day – you just need to register! Our convenient online registration, which is required for all participants, allows you to choose your cleanup area from 37 sites in the greater Wausau community.

Each volunteer will receive an official Green and Clean supply kit that includes a free safety green T-shirt for each registered participant, trash bags, gloves and printed site maps.

The day of the event, you may choose to join us for the ever popular Ghidorzi Green and Clean kick-off at Corporate Cove at 8am, complete with fresh donuts and hot Starbucks coffee. Or you may report directly to the cleanup site you selected when you registered.

Volunteers will clean up their registered site from 9-11am, leaving bags of trash in a visible roadside location. A driver will be assigned to each cleanup site and will make the rounds picking up the bags.

Everyone is invited to tune in to the Ghidorzi Green and Clean social media channels for fun-filled photos from the event! Sharing your pictures and experience is also highly encouraged.

What: Picking up litter for a clean start to spring.

Where: Cleanup encompasses the Wausau metro area, including Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Rothschild and Weston. Check out our cleanup sites here.

STEP 1 – Complete your online registration and choose your cleanup site today! Register by April 11 to guarantee your free safety green T-shirt.

STEP 2 – Volunteers may pick up their Ghidorzi Green and Clean supply kit of safety green t-shirts, trash bags, printed site maps, and gloves on Monday, April 21 through Thursday, April 24 from 8:30am to 4:30pm from the Ghidorzi Office at Union Station located at 2100 Stewart Avenue. Or you may pick up your items at the Event Kickoff on April 26! *Please note that supply kit pickup will be unavailable on Friday, April 25, as supplies need to be moved to the kick-off site, but you may reach out to schedule a special pickup and we’ll be happy to assist.

STEP 3 – Put on your safety green t-shirt and clean up your registered site from 9 – 11am on Saturday, April 26.
Optional Kick-Off Event: Join us at Corporate Cove for the official event kick-off starting at 8am! Enjoy fresh Starbucks coffee, hot chocolate and donuts with energizing music and live announcements with giveaways! Volunteers will be deployed to their clean up sites around 8:45am.

STEP 4 – Depart from your cleanup site, leaving full trash bags in visible roadside locations for drivers to pick up. 

STEP 5 –  Share your fun event photos on Facebook and Instagram using #ghidorzigreenandclean.
